To mark the centenary of the end of the First World War, we’re screening a modern tribute to the heroism and bravery of Dunkirk. It is 1940 and British, French and Belgian soldiers are surrounded by German troops. A call is put out to every available vessel to sail to France and thus begins the amazing true story of Dunkirk. Many thousands of young men were rescued by all manner of small boats. There is very little dialogue and the imagery is of beautiful immense skies full of danger and white sandy beaches full of young soldiers queuing patiently on the seashore. A tense, thrilling and very moving story. It won Oscars for Best Sound Mixing, Best Sound Editing & Best Film Editing, plus many others.
