Tangerines

A film about humanity in an increasingly difficult and tense world. Set in 1992 during the conflict between Georgia and Abkhazia and the displaced Estonians caught up in the middle. Ivo (Lembit Ulfsak) is a man of gentle strength who shows tolerance, sensibility and empathy. He has stayed in his deserted village to help his friend and neighbour to bring in the tangerine harvest. A battle on their doorstep results in two opposing soldiers being wounded. The friends take in the wounded soldiers and tense outbursts follow their convalescence. The film is beautifully shot and poetic but unsentimental.
